With undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs offered through its 17 schools and colleges and more than 250 fields of study, Boston University is the fourth-largest independent, nonprofit university in the United States. The combined student body averages at 32,000 with a faculty of 2,600, a student/faculty ratio15:1, and a class size of 27. Current and past instructors include Nobel Prize winners, a U.S. Poet Laureate, a two-time winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award, a National Book Award winner, and a winner of the Broderick Award for Excellence in Research.
